Sex Education for Your Child

As your teenage child is becoming more curious about life and the world we live in, you as a parent have to make an important decision: do you tell your child about the facts of life and talk to them about the existence of condoms and how to accurately use one? Or do you avoid the conversation for as long as possible and hope that they will have the condoms talk in school.
However, many schools only provide abstinence programs and therefore do not teach teenagers about condoms and safe sex practices. In this day and age, where teenagers are having sex at a younger age and there are more chances of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, parents cannot afford to have their kids remain ignorant about safe sex practices.
Therefore, parents have to take matters in to their own hands and have the ‘birds and the bees’ conversation with their teenage daughter or son. One of the main things parents should tell their children is to make sure that they have an emotional connection to the person they want to have intercourse with, because this will only make the experience better. Talk to them about the different methods of birth control, and the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
Make them aware of the danger of contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Couples should always ensure that none of them have any form of disease before making love to one another. Children also should be taught how to use condoms and from where condoms could be obtained.
Also tell your children about the possibility of getting pregnant. A pregnancy will change the lives of the teenagers involved, and in some cases, it can even ruin the lives. Therefore, ensure that your child knows about the consequences of engaging in sex, and how to use condoms to lessen some of those consequences.
